The Ohio Research Scholars Program (ORSP) provides grants to strengthen and increase the number of clusters of research excellence that are led by Ohio's academic institutions that support regional economic priorities. The Ohio Research Scholars Program is achieving this through aggressive investment in the attraction of senior research talent and related facilities and equipment, and promotion of unique collaborations needed to build and sustain scientifically and
commercially promising lines of research. The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences is advertising for one ORSP-supported position in the biobased component of an ORSP Emergent Materials Cluster. Two additional positions in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Department of Chemistry are also being offered in support of this research cluster. |
The Ohio State University’s (OSU)
College of Food, Agricultural, and
Environmental Sciences invites
applications from outstanding scientists
and engineers who have established
programs of preeminence for an endowed
chair in Biobased Emergent Materials.
The successful candidate will focus on
biological, chemical, and/ or physical
processes to create novel polymeric
systems as applied to biobased materials
development. This Ohio Research Scholar
position is one of several newly created
endowed chairs that are part of a multiuniversity,
statewide initiative formed
under the Ohio Research Scholars
Program (ORSP), designed to create a
research cluster of excellence in
technology-enabling and emergent
materials. The cluster is a crossdisciplinary
collaboration between The
Ohio State University, The University of
Dayton, and the University of Akron (UA)
together with coordinated industrial
support. |

The Department of Horticulture and Crop
Science at The Ohio State University, in
conjunction with the Plant Molecular
Biology and Biotechnology (PMBB)
Program, invites applications for a Plant
Biochemist. This is a tenure-track,
Assistant Professor-level, 9-month, 90:10
research:teaching appointment. The Plant
Biochemist will: 1) develop an
interdisciplinary, extramurally-funded
program focused on fundamental
processes related to bioenergy or
bioproducts, 2) conduct research that
increases our understanding of the
biochemistry underlying plant-based
compounds and 3) develop a course that
focuses on an area of their expertise. |

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications from outstanding, internationally recognized faculty candidates at the senior level in state-of-the-art, nanoscale materials characterization. This Ohio Research Scholar position is one of several endowed chairs that are part of a major, state-wide initiative administered by the Institute for Materials Research at OSU to create a cluster in technology-enabling and emergent materials in collaboration with the University of Dayton and the University of Akron. Information about materials' nanostructure and bonding is crucial for developing emergent materials, as well as for creating and validating robust, reliable computational models of their performance. This new scholar position will lead OSU’s world-class characterization capabilities into the areas of nanoparticles, nanomaterials and soft materials. |

The Department of Chemistry at The Ohio State University invites applications from outstanding, internationally recognized faculty candidates and researchers at the senior level to fill an Endowed Chair in organic synthesis from biobased renewable resources. This Ohio Research Scholar position is one of several newly created endowed chairs that are part of a multi-university and statewide initiative formed under the Ohio Research Scholars Program (ORSP), designed to create a research cluster of excellence in technology-enabling and emergent materials. The cluster incorporates a cross-disciplinary collaboration between The Ohio State University, the University of Dayton and the University of Akron, and will coordinate with the industrial sector as appropriate. The successful candidate is expected to have a profound, leadership impact on the research cluster activities, visibility, recognized scholarship and collaborations. |
